Please be aware that in this case, the full service fee of 100% will apply, and no rebate will be available. While we do not handle private health fund claims on-site, we are more than happy to provide you an invoice for you to submit your claim for reimbursement independently.

Whilst we understand that unforeseen circumstances can arise, we kindly ask that you provide your psychologist with as much notice as possible for appointment changes. Useful Information
-
Medicare in Australia offers valuable support for clients seeking mental health services through its Better Access initiative. This program allows eligible individuals to receive rebates for up to 10 individual psychology sessions each calendar year.
The Medicare rebate you receive through Medicare will depend on the type of psychologist you choose to see. It’s important to keep in mind that psychologists may charge different rates, which means the out-of-pocket cost per session may vary.
Please refer to your psychologist for their fees and policies.
If you’d like to access psychology sessions via Medicare’s Better Access initiative, see the following steps:
1. Visit your Doctor:
You will need to book a double consultation when you visit your GP, Psychiatrist, or Paediatrician and they will assess your mental health and create a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP). The MHCP will outline the specific psychological services you require and provide you access to an initial 6 psychology sessions.
2. Obtain a Letter or Referral and your Mental Health Care Plan:
Once you have these documents, you can schedule an appointment with a psychologist who accepts Medicare referrals. Be sure to bring your plan and referral along to your first session. This will likely be 2 documents.
3. Claiming your rebate:
After your psychology session where payment is processed, you will be provided with a receipt. We can process your rebate through our system, or you can claim your Medicare rebate online through your myGov account linked to Medicare, by using the Medicare Express Plus app. Please note, you cannot claim both Medicare and your Private Health Insurance for the one invoice.
4. Review your progress:
Your doctor will need to review your Mental Health Care Plan after sessions have been completed to determine if further sessions are required. They can then approve additional sessions, to a maximum of 10 consultations per calendar year. This is not a new MHCP but simply an extension of your current MHCP, unless your clinical condition changes, which would then trigger a new MHCP.
5. If you have any additional questions, you can talk more to your GP, calling Medicare, or contacting us directly.
-
If you have psychology attached to your private health fund, you may be eligible for a psychology rebate.
You cannot claim both Medicare and your private health fund for the same consultation.
Please contact your private health fund for more information.
